I am a non-native speaker...can I continue to teach in PRC?

Hi I am a non-native speaker with almost three years of teaching experience in a private kindergarten in Beijing, my current contract with that kindergarten will end in May, but my employer claims that the visa laws have changed since January and since I am not a native and my bachelor's degree is not from an English speaking country, I will lose any chance of ever working in China again (legally at least), even though my bachelor's is English and American Studies, and I have loads of experience as a teacher. I think she is lying to me just to keep me working for their company...

Simona, according to the current policy, you are not eligible for the requirements. So what your current employer said is right!

Oh, that is not good... So how are the hundreds of thousands of kindergartens and training centers in China going to get enough employees? Currently maybe 70% of people working as theachers in these two are neither natives nor do they have the native university education... This will force even more kindergartens to have no choice but to hire people illegaly on business or student's visas...

Hey, im bulgarian. Mladen. I sent you message in bulgarian but my reply got deleted. I'd be Happy if you send me a message to my email. So Happy to see a country fellow around. Yes, they lie to you. Not entirely, PROBably they dont know. There was a change , but this change didnt affect the members of EU. So you should be good for renewing your visa.
