About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visit to Beijing, can we spend 3 days in Beijing on the free 72 hour Visa?

We are traveling from Indonesia to Beijing then to Vietnam

We are US citizens.

Yes, if you only transit in Beijing, you can spend 3 days there by using the 72-hour free transit.

Thanks! And we just apply at airport upon arrival?? Seems odd that the airline will let me board in Jakarta without visa in hand?

Yes, you can just apply at the airport upon arrival. The policy has been implemented in Beijing for nearly three years, so the process is quite mature. You don't need to worry about it.
