About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need to renew my passport before the trip?

I will fly YYZ - PVG - HKG - PVG - YYZ. Every time I will stay in Shanghai for less than 6 days and I will utilize 144-hours visa free transit. However, my passport validity will be 4 months during the trip. Do I need to renew my passport before the trip?

Kathy, it’s okay. You don’t need to renew your passport because only when you apply for an entry permit, it requires that your passport must have a remaining validity of at least 6 months.
