My passport is expiring on May 2016, will I be permitted to board the aircraft?

I am travelling back to the Philippines on last week of March. I didn't realise that my philippine passport expires on May 17, 2016. So I am actually picking up renewed passport in PH before coming back to UK. My flight has a 7 hour lay over in Beijing. Will I have trouble boarding the Air China aircraft? Anybody else here went through the same thing? or heard/know someone that had the same situation? I already purchased the ticket when I noticed such a foolish mistake so I need all the help I can get. Any suggestions or stories will do. Thanks!

Acee, as far as I know, your passport is ok. It's not required that you must have at least six months' validity on your passport when you enter China. You can check this with the airline.
