About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Scope of permitted travel confusion

If my entry port to China is Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Scope of permitted travel is Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, and Shanghai Municipality, does that mean I can't fly to Chongoing for couple days? Even though my exit port is Shanghai Pudong International Airport?

When you travel on 144 hour visa free transit, you are limited to one transit area and you cannot leave it to another mainland Chinese destinations/areas. You have correctly defined your transit area as Shanghai city and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and you cannot leave them for another mainland Chinese area.

If you want to visit Chongqing you have to leave Shanghai to another country or eligible territory, for example:

Shanghai - Taiwan - Chongqing - Hong Kong

This is just one example, but you can find put some other route, of course.
