About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240 Free Visa and Which areas are permitted to be visited under the visa-free transit policy

I am traveling from Jakarta (Indonesia) with a transit in Vietnam to Shanghai, and then from Shanghai with a transit in Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur. Am I eligible for the240-hour Visa-Free Transit?
Furthermore, if I enter via Shanghai using this visa-free policy, can I visit all areas such as Suzhou and Hangzhou, or are there specific regions that are restricted under this type of entry?

Soleha, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you can definitely visit many parts of mainland China, Suzhou and Hangzhou included without any doubt. There are restricted areas for those traveling on 240 hour visa free transit, but the provinces around Shanghai like Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, Fujian, just to name few of them are free to visit/explore in their entirety. This visa free transit scheme is quite a generous one. Have a nice visit to China.
