About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour travel in transit visa Edinburgh, Shanghai, Dubai, Edinburgh

Hi
We are flying to Shanghai to visit our daughter and we will be there 6 days before flying off to Dubai for 7 days then back to Edinburgh. Does this qualify for 144 hr free transit? I have been to the CVASC (who have no official knowledge) and I have phoned my airline. They didn't know either. I don't want to be booted out before I even get there and really not relishing spending another £300.00 if I never needed to in the first place. Ive read on Trip Advisor forums that the carrier issues it??? Is that the arrival/departure card required? Be very grateful for any advice. Feel like a detective right now!!

Yes, you qualify for the 144 hour free transit. You may need to tell your situation to the airlines when you board the plane and then the airline will declare your request to the immigration inspection in Shanghai. When you arrive in Shanghai, you can just handle the relevant procedures at the special lane for 144-hour free transit and then enjoy the free stay policy. You still need to fill out an arrival/departure card.
