About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling from Chicago - Shanghai Pudong - Seoul Korea - Shanghai Pudong - chicago

If I stay in Shanghai less than 24 hours (US Citizen), do I need to have a Visa for this trip? Can I leave the airport and stay at a hotel?

Soo, actully you can avail yourself of the 144-hour free transit both times you stop in Shanghai. The entry permit is not required. You can leave the airport and stay at a hotel.
