Visa Exemption arriving from a Cruise Ship

Hi, I am arriving from Japan on board a cruise ship on the 31st March. Do I need an entry permit to go to the airport, if I am only there for one day, or half a day?
I am a British Citizen.

Anthony, you mean your layover time will be less than 24 hours, right? If so and you will fly to a third country or region rather than Japan after stop in PRC, you don’t need an entry permit. But after you disembark, you need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the immigration inspection office to go to the airport.
