About:Shanghai Public Transportation Card

Can i get refund for my deposit and balance in ordinary shanghai transportation card?

Of course. You can have the service at the CVM Self-service Machine in some metro station, many China Post Office branches, and many Pudong Development Bank branches. I can tell you the nearest location only if knowing your location. I also know there is a site for getting refund near the exit 4, Longyang Road Metro Station, Line 2. Just try to find!

Thank you, for your response. My last trip will be using subway to pudong airport. Can i use my beijing transportation smart card in the city?

I am sorry that the Beijing Smart Card cannot be used in SH. :)

i read somewhere that this card is valid only within 3 hrs of issuance. Does it mean that if i start using the card after 3 hrs of issuance, it won't work?

No, it is not true. Once being issued, it can be valid for a long time. I even remember there is no validity period of it. For your case, I suggest you return the card and get the refund back at the Pudong Development Bank in PVG, or the Ticketing Window/Counter of the Maglev Train Station there.
