About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Going to shanghai for a few days

I am traveling to Shanghai in March for about 72 hours and plan on staying in a hotel. Then I am flying to Hong Kong. Do I need any special paperwork and could I go to anywhere just outside of the city or do I have to stay there?

Hank, you can enjoy the free transit, so you don’t need any special paperwork. Because the 144 hour policy is carried out in Shanghai, you are allowed to travel within the administrative regions Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, too. But you cannot go to other cities.
