How strict are the 72 hours in Shanghai?

I have a flight scheduled to arrive in Shanghai from Bangkok and then leave for the USA 73 hours and 15 minutes later.

It's ok. You may not know that Shanghai has already adopted the 144-hour free transit policy, so your stay duration is within the limit definitely. No need to worry about the time length.
