About:Prohibited Items

I am traveling to china from India for a month and have strict food restrictions.

I want to bring the food materials like rice, dal, broken wheat, packaged food, some onions and chillies, tamarind paste and other cooking items etc. Can these be in checked in baggage? Do I need to declare these? I know several Indians who travel regularly and carry these items but just wanted to check.

Generally speaking, you can bring these items. But you should notice that fresh meat and vegetables are not allowed to bring into the country.
