About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

My passport expires November, 2016. Is this OK when applying for a visa?

A last minute trip to Shanghai was scheduled by my friend whose cousin works in China. I will be accompanying her on this trip in late March.
What type would we be applying for? We will be staying with her cousin. Do we just give his address along with our ticket information? Thanks

Hi Traci, you need to apply for an L type entry permit. The passport is ok. Only the address is not enough. You should ask her cousin to write you an invitation letter and use it to apply.

Thanks so much! We also want to visit South Korea while in the area. Do we need an entry permit to enter Korea from PRC? The plan is to fly to Shanghai and stay for four days, then fly to Korea for a day or two, then fly to Beijing for two days, then take a train back to Shanghai. We will stay in Shanghai for a few more days then fly back to the US.

Dear, you don’t need it because US passport holder can enjoy free entry to Korea.
