12-hour transit in beijing, do i need a visa?

I'm will be in Beijing airport transit for 12 hours and thinking to head out of the airport for a quick look nearby the airport. Will I need an entry permit or might there be any implicaitions ...?

Hey, after your transiting in Beijing, if you fly to a third country or region different from your last departure one, you don’t need it because you can use the 24 hour direct transit.
