About:Power Plugs / Sockets in China

coming from Australia to china do I need a transformer for computer we run on 240 v and an adaptor.

You don't need to take a transformer. As far as I know, the three-hole socket is same, but the two-hole socket is quite different. So you'd better take an adaptor.
