About:Power Plugs / Sockets in China

If I charge my laptop without a transformer will there be problems?

I am traveling to China and staying in a hotel. A few years back I had an old hp notebook and I charged it without a transformer and I had to take out the battery because it kept over heating now I can't put it in for long even in us. Will my new MacBook be able to tolerate it better than my old laptop?

Generally, the power line of laptop has a built-in transformer. You don't need to bring an extra transformer, only an adaptor, for the socket is quite different in CN.

Apple SPECIFICALLY states that their devices accept power world wide, 110 or 220 is absolutely zero problem.

Your problem will occur in finding a plug configuration that fits in the wall. The "PlugBug World" adapter by TwelveSouth (available on Amazon) will cover your Mac as well as giving you an extra USB charging port.
