In case of emergency does the standard visa procedure stand?

I have family in China (US Citizens) and am concerned about getting to them in case of a medical emergency. Thanks!

Tari, in case of emergency, you can use the urgent service and it only takes one day to get the entry permit. As you hold US passport, I'm not sure whether you can get the VOA when landing in PRC. It may be difficult for you.
