Cruise from Japan to Shanghai

I am Canadian citizen arriving to Shanghai cruise port on cruise ship . Shanghai is our final destination.
I'd like to stay a night and fly to Canada the next day. according to this policy I don't need to obtain a visa, but I am getting different answers/opinions. Please help me to clarify whether I still need it. thanks

Marina, right, you don't need it based on this policy. However, please confirm this with your cruise company in case that it does not allow you to board.
