About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My Husband and I will be traveling to Japan in May. We have a 24 Layover in Shanghai China.

Will we need a Visa? can we leave the airport? Will we go through customs in PRC or when we arrive in Japan?

Dear, you don't need the entry permit and you are allowed to leave the airport. As you just transit in Shanghai, I think you should go through customs when you arrive in Japan.
