Chinese visit to stay with daughter and son in law

We are visiting our family who live and work in Guangzhou for the 3rd time in about 6 years. Previous applications provided all the required proof of our relationship eg daughter and son in law. Would just a letter of invitation plus the Visa application be sufficient without my daughter having to complete certified documents of her birth and marriage certificates?

Lynette, if you just stay for a short term, you can apply for a tourist L type. In most cases, the proof of relationship is not required to apply for L type.
