Do I qualify for a free 72 hour transit visa?

I am a US citizen flying from Seoul to Beijing with a 26 hour layover, and then onward to San Francisco, USA. Do I qualify for the policy if I want to stay in a hotel overnight and do some sight seeing before arriving back in the airport for the second leg of my trip?
