About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from JFK to Guangzhou and have a 17 hour layover with China Southern.

Can I leave my bags at the airport while I do the 72hr visit? Where could I go on the metro from there. Will be traveling with 4 kids and is it fairly expensive to get around? Thanks so much for any help! I think that China Southern does offer a hotel for flights over 8 hours so would that be safer than trying to get around the city with kids

Chris, you can leave your bags at the airport. There are 6 baggage storages in the airport: Gate-16 in Domestic Baggage Claim Lobby, Gate-8 in International Departure Lobby, Domestic Arrival Area B (2), and International Arrival Area (2).
After getting off from the plane, you should go to the -1F to get on the metro. If you don’t buy many things, it won’t be expensive to get around with 4 kids.
Usually, it is safe. If you want to have a short tour in the city, you can go. It’s fine.

Jennifer from Australia,
Thank you so much for answering my question. I am sorry, but I meant to ask if I only have a layover for 17 hours and am proceeding to Manila from Guangzhou, do I need to claim my bags that are supposed to continue onto Manila? I just am unable to get five 50 pound bags and carry them all over the city with my 4 kids. Thanks again.
