About:Beijing Capital Airport Express Train

7 hours to spend in PEK airport

Hi,
I will arrive at 1.30pm at the airport and will have to wait for my other flight until 8.30pm.
Do I have enough time to go to downtown or any cool place for sightseeing during that time?
If yes how can I get there?

Yes, you can go to the city center during the layover. You may take AE train to Dongzhimen Station. Next, change to line 2 to Jianguomen Station. Then, transfer to line 1 to Tian'anmen East Station, Exit A. You can tour around Tian'anmen Square, see the appearance of Forbidden City, and stroll on Qianmen Commercial Street. Remember to return to PEK at least two hours before departure. For the return trip, you are advised to take a taxi for about CNY80-100 to save time. ;)

No, a visa is unnecessary. You are eligible to the 24h visa-free policy. Just apply for a stay permit upon landing. Then, you can leave the transit area and go to see the city center. Have fun! ;)

Im doing the same. Do I have to go trough customs and baggage reclaim and go to the city, go back and check in again? I dont really want to take one big suitcase with me to be honest!?

Well, if you belongs to International to International Transfer, you don't need to complete the Border Inspection and Baggage Reclaim. Just get a stamp on your passport.
In addition, the correct procedures are Transfer Procedures - Stamped on Passport - Security Check - Custom Inspection - Waiting & Boarding. :)
