About:Exit Regulations of China

Rules for leaving China with a USA work check in the amt. of 2.4 million.

if you have worked in PRC for 2 years for an american firm and was paid a large sum of money with a USA check when leaving do you need $10,000 dollars cash on you to leave?

Judith, according to the regulations, you can only take USD 5000 or CNY 20000 in cash when you pass the customs. However, there isn't no requirement on the check. So I think it's ok that you just take some cash and your check.
