About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

HND > PVG > JFK with 9 hrs layover in PVG

Flying China Eastern from NY to Tokyo but on return flight, will have 9 hrs layover from 10:30am - 7:30pm. Will the airline transfer my checked-in lugguage to connecting flight or do I have to claim it if I am to use the 72 hr visa free transit?

Lok, as for this question, you’d better contact with the airline and see whether they will deliver to your destination or not. If not, you need to claim and then check-in again.
But if all your itinerary is under one same ticket, it’s very possible that you don’t need to claim your luggage.
