About:China Customs Declaration

Different customs laws

Hi I have a friend that was allowed to go through customs in Vancouver with some diamonds flying to Australia. but with a stop of in Shanghai, they asked her for documentation of ownership which she never had or even knew. she even had to have it so. now she is waiting court in Shanghai. has anyone heard of this or does anyone know what the out come would be?

Andrew, they are pure diamonds, right? According to the related regulation, diamonds are not personal belongings for personal use. I guess that the customs suspects that she is a smuggler. That's why she is waiting court. Now it's really up to the court. She might be fined some money. More seriously, she might be sent into jail.
