About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

What if I fly into HK with no visa and decide to travel to Beijing from there?

I leave to China in a week and I just found out you need an entry permit. However, I found out you don't need one for HK. So is it possible to fly into HK then visit Beijing then fly back home out of Shanghai without applying in advance? I won't be there longer than 4 days

Joe, I got what you meant. You want to use the 72-hour free transit policy, right? You should keep in mind that if you want to use it, you should fly from HK to Beijing and leave for home from Beijing rather than Shanghai. Otherwise, you need to apply for one entry permit in advance. You can see whether it's possible to apply from HK.

So fly into HK and get a 72hr pass to Beijing and fly home from there? Okay, but rather than flying to Beijing, can I take the train, as I want to experience that.

And thank you for your response

Yes, you can fly from HK to Beijing and fly home from there. But you can't use the 72 free transit policy if you take a train from HK to Beijing. It's a pity.
