About:China Visa

Do we need China Visa when arriving and leaving Shanghai by cruise?

We are holding Canadian passport, arriving Shanghai at 5am from Hong Kong via cruise. The cruise departs next early morning. Shanghai is the only port we stop in China. We will fly back to Canada from Tokyo. Does "24 hours/72hours transit" free apply to us? Thank you

Yes, you are eligible for 24 hours free transit in Shanghai. In this way, you needn't apply any type in advance. But I do suggest you confirm this with your cruise company. I heard some cruise companies do require their customers to get a transit or tourist type in advance.
