About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

72-hour visa-free stay stopover 10hrs in Beijing.

Hi there,

I am traveling soon from Stockholm to Manila via Beijing. My stopover will be 10hrs. It is said in article that I can apply for free stay actually at the airport. How long does it take for family of 4 in general? Would be better to apply via airline already in Stockholm?
Secondly, ma plan is to take airport express train, get off in Dongzhimen and visit close by:
- Guijie Street (quick meal)
-Temple of Confucius
Then take a Beijing subway line 2 (inner loop) to Qianmen and visit Tianamen Square or alternatively Forbidden City.
Any thoughts/advises?
Thank you

Bart, you needn't apply any type in advance. Also you needn't inform the airline in advance too. Upon landing, you just follow the leading signs to find the counter where you can go through 72 hours free transit. If there isn't a long queue, you just need a few minutes.

I am afraid that you may not be able to visit all places you mentioned here. You have to count how long you need on the way to the tourist places and return to the airport from there. Also you should check in early for your onward air ticket. So I think you just take one tourist place. Forbidden City is highly recommended.
