About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Transit without visa / with 72h free transit in XMN?

I am coming flying AMS-XMN-HKG with Xiamen Airlines and do not hold a China entry permit.
Can I a) transfer in XMN without the entry permit meaning to stay within the airport's transit zone or b) get into PRC (72h free transit) and then check-in again for the next flight to HKG?
HKG is regarded as third party region, correct? Would the 72h free transit work on the way back (HKG-XMN-AMS) as well?

Christian, you’re right. When speaking of the 72 hour policy, HK is regarded as a third region. Thus, you are eligible for the 72 hour free transit and you don’t need an entry permit to enter PRC.
The 72 hour free transit is also applicable to your situation on your way back.
