About:Visa Policy of China

Do I need a visa if I get off the ship in Shanghai and stay for 3 days?

We plan to travel via ship to Shanghai. We disembark in Shanghai and would like to stay for at least two nights. Would I need to apply if I then proceed via air to Hong Kong for a three day stay? Would I be allowed to return to Hong Kong a few weeks later to embark on another cruise without any entry permit?

Paula, you needn't worry about your entry to HK. US people with valid passports enjoy 90 days free stay there. And there is no requirement that you couldn't enjoy this privilege for the second time. For your stay in Shanghai, you'd better apply for a tourist type in advance.
