About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

American Citizen

I am traveling to Japan and plan to travel to China and return to Japan. Would I be allowed to enter China? I was told American can only travel to China if they go from the US.

You have to be travelling onwards to another country or region for the 72 hour visa but because you are arriving from and returning to Japan you cannot get the visa.

Departure and destination should not be in the same country or region.
