About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

8 hour layover in Beijing

I am traveling from New York to Melbourne with a layover in Beijing. I was wondering if 1) I would be able to use the transit visa, and 2) would i be able to use it both on the way to Melbourne, and on the way back to NY?

Ciera, you are able to enjoy free transit for both legs of your trip.

Dear, you don’t need to do anything in advance.
If you want to leave the airport, you need to handle relevant procedures at the airport. You should go to the frontier inspection to apply for free transit and you need to present your passport and flight tickets.

Actually, if you don’t leave the airport, you don’t need to handle relevant procedures. Upon arrival, you will go through a special lane to the transfer zone where the airline staff will stamp on your air ticket.
