About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will be arriving in Beijing by train from Mongolia and departing in 70h by plane for USA.

I have the 10 year entry permit with one single entry from June 2015. In June of 2016 I will be arriving by train originally traveling from Mosscow through Mongolia arriving in Beijing. I will depart Beijing within 72 hours by plane for USA.
Do I need a new entry on my visa.

Yes you need a new entry on your visa as the 72h free transit is just eligible when you enter and leave by aircraft.

Bob, you said you have a 10-year multi-entry permit to China? If so, you can enter PRC as long as it's valid. You don't need to apply for a new one and an entry record will be added onto this multi-entry permit.
