About:China Visa

Is a transit visa required for a South African passport holder stopping in Shanghai en route to HK?

Hello. I am a South African citizen and my flight will stop in Shanghai for a few hours in transit to Hong Kong. Do I require a transit permit for China?

Hello, Carolyn, if you stop over in Shanghai for less than 24 hours, you can use the 24 hour direct transit. In this way, you don’t need to apply for transit permit.
