Canada to Shanghai to Vietnam then back to Canada through Shanghai

I will be travelling from Canada to Shanghai then to Vietnam and Cambodia and then back to Canada through Shanghai. Can I use the 72 hour free visa for both entries into Shanghai. I hope to do some sight seeing and shopping during both stopovers in Shanghai. Or do I need to get a multi visit visa to stop in Shanghai coming from and going to Canada. I have a Canadian passport.
