About:China Family Reunion Visa

enquiry about the invitation letter

Hi, I am Chinese citizen, and currently in New Zealand. If I want to bring my child(who is New Zealand citizen) to China with me for a travel, (We will stay for nearly 40 days) should i apply for the Q2 visa for him? and, if the invitation letter is required, could i be the inviting person?

Li Li, it actually requires that the inviter (if he/she is Chinese) should be within mainland if you plan to appl your son Q2. If you just stay for 40 days, I think you really needn't apply for the Q2 type. A tourist type is ok. Yes, usually duration of stay for single L tourist type is 30 days. However, you still manage to do the extension. In that case, you will get another 30 days again.

Then you can ask your parents or Chinese friends to send you the invitation letter and their Chinese ID cards copies. In this way, you needn't provide the hotel booking, round-trip air tickets and travel itineraries.

thanks...if I apply for a tourist one, I need to provide the hotel booking, round-trip tickets and travel itineraries, but if I apply for the Q2 type, I don't need to, is that right? I can ask my parent to send me the invitation letter and Chinese ID card copy, how about the proof of the relationship between my son and my parent? I can provide my son's birth certificate from New Zealand and the Notarial Certificate of my birth, will be ok?

Even though you apply for the tourist one, you don't have to submit hotel bookings and round-trip tickets as you can use the invitation letter to take place of such documents. You can ask yout parents to send this letter and ID card copy. The proof of relationship is not required if you apply for the tousrist L type.

You should apply for the extension seven working days before the L type expires at the local PSB.
