About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Required documents for applying a Hong Kong visa

Hello everyone! I am a Vienamese and I am living in Japan. I will attend a conference in Hong Kong from Dec. 10-Dec.12.
To apply a Hong Kong entry permit, should I go to Chinese embassy in Tokyo and apply it by myself?
I have tried to get the info from PRC embassy but I could not since they do not have English webpage.
I have prepared the following documents, including:

1. Application form.
2. My passport and a photocopy of my entry to Japan.
3. My original resident card and its photocopy.
4. Invitation letter from the conference.
5. A copy of the conference program with my talk's title.
5. A recent bareheaded color photo.
6. 4000JPY.

Could you help me to check what other documents should I need to prepare?

Thank you very much.

Hi, Dao, you need to apply for it from the HK Immigration Department and you can apply for visitor type which allows you to attend conferences during your stay. You should deliver all the required documents to the second floor of the Immigration Tower on 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai. It usually takes four weeks to process the application. Except the documents you mentioned above, you also need to provide round trip air tickets, and proof of financial standing such as the bank statement, savings account passbooks etc.

Hi Tom,
Thank you very much for your reply.

According to your recommendation, I need to send my application documents to Hong Kong immigration office in Hong Kong. Can I do it at Chinese embassy in Tokyo, Japan?
Actually, I am living in Tsukuba prefecture, near Tokyo, Japan. My visit to Hong Kong will be from Dec. 09-Dec 11, 2015. So I am wondering that I do not have enough time to apply it if the process will take 4 weeks.

Regards,

Thang

Dao, I found that Chinese embassy dealt with HK entry permits before. However, I didn't know whether the embassy issued the entry permits or they just transferred the applications to HK. If possible, you should visit or call the embassy to confirm this.

If they accept your application but send it to HK, then I am afraid that you don't enough time. It takes four to six weeks.

Thank you very much.
Yes, next week I will go to the Chinese embassy in Tokyo to clarify whether I can apply for a HK visa in there or not.

Dao Thang, you can possibly do it at the embassy in Tokyo, but the office may trasfer your application to HK as well.

Hi Tom, thank you very much for your kindness. I went to the Chinese embassy this afternoon, unfortunately, their working time is in the morning. I will come back again tomorrow morning to submit my application. I will let you know if I have any news.

Hi Tom,
This morning I went to the Chinese embassy in Tokyo for applying a HK entry permit.
My application has been accepted and I will get it on next Tuesday.
However, they asked me to bring a certificate of bank account balance to replace my bank-book copy that I submitted.
(The copy of the bank-book is not acceptable).
Thank you very much!
