About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do we need visas to spend few hours in Beijing and Chengdu as we wait for flight connections?

Hi, we are travelling from Switzerland with Swiss passports to Myanmar with a stop of 8 hours in Beijing and back with a stop of 6 hours in Chengdu. Do we need a 72-hour free transit to get out of the airport in Beijing and Chengdu and have a quick bus tour visit in these cities or go into town to eat? Do we need to mention our wish to get out of the airport for some hours as we board in Yangon? And finally are there organized city tours directly from the airports?

Broillet, first your routes are ok for 72 hours free transit. This means that you needn't apply any entry permit in advance. Second, when you transit in Beijing, you needn't inform the airline in advance. Upon arrival, you can apply for the free transit directly. However, you need to inform the airline at least 30 minutes in advance before the plane lands in Chengdu. Then they inform the airport in advance. After you arrive, you can apply for the free transit.

If you plan to have a one-day tour, perhaps you might try to send emails to traveltravelchinaguide.com. Perhaps, they are able to arrange you a short trip.
