About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Leaving China and coming back in?

My partner is in PRC on a VISA just now and wants to visit Japan before going back home to the UK. Would she be able to fly out from Shanghai, visit Japan for a week and then get back to the UK (her flight is booked back to London from Shanghai) via a Tokyo - Shanghai - UK transition?

Does it matter she has already been in PRC (again, on a valid entry permit)?

Hello Robert! Does the flight from Shanghai to London stop over in Japan? If not, she can make use of the free transit policy on the way back home, ie., from Tokyo - Shanghai - UK. It doesn't matter that she has already been in PRC.

No, she is in China now and would spend a week in Japan before coming to Shanghai to catch her flight home to London. This is 100% okay right?

Thanks so much for your help. You were awesome!
