About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

US citizen living in Costa Rica with permanent residence. Do I need visa for touring Shanghai?

If so, what kind of entry permit is required and what information is needed? Do I have to get it in advance or when I arrive in China. Will be there for 7 days.

Hello, Robjay. You need a L type for touring Shanghai. Required materials: passport, application form and photo, proof of legal stay or residence status, and copies of round trip tickets and hotel bookings. You need to apply for it in advance.
