About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

emergency short business trip to changzhou

Hi, I am booking Saturday for a Monday morning flight to PVG from USA - returning in less than 72 hours. It is a last minute emergency trip. I will be turning back around and flying home within 72 hours. It does not seem possible to get a visa in such a short advance notice since its the weekend. Is the 72 hour policy possible for me. If not, could I change my flights to fly home from Japan so as it appears I am traveling to China in transit to Japan?

Hi Eric! You mean that you intend to fly from the USA to Shanghai, and then go to Changzhou, then return back to Shanghai to catch a connecting flight, right? Actually, under the 72-hour free transit, you can only stay in Shanghai and not allowed to leave the city. Some people may leave the transit city secretly. You can also do this but it's a bit of risky. Anyway, if you want to be eligible for the free transit policy, you can take the flight from Shanghai to US via Japan.
