Can I use the 72 hour visa free visit?

I fly from the United states to Canada then to Shanghai, arriving on the 3rd, then on the 6th I fly to Hong Kong (and after that a few days later to Tokyo). Can I use the 72 hour transit deal so I don't have to get a visa?

Yes, you can enjoy 72 hours free visa policy. So it's not necessary for you to apply for a visa.
