Transit Document Requirement for Malaysian Passport Holder - 26 Hours

Hello,

Please help with the following situation:
Malaysian Passport, US Green Card Holder

SFO - PVG (Arrive at PVG November 14th 2015 at 6.45 PM)
PVG - KUL (Depart PVG November 15th 2015 at 8.10 PM)

Do I need a visa?
Will United Airlines allow me to board from SFO without it?

Ming, you don't need the transit permit as you are eligible for the 24-hour free transit policy. I think the airline will allow you to board onto the plane. If you still have doubts, you can contact the airline for confirmation.

Elvis- Thanks for your response. I checked with United. Two representatives on the phone said yes. I emailed and asked for documentation, the representative said no because the transit is over 24 hours.
