transit at shanghaikunming, will i need a visa?

Question

Returning to Kolkata (India) via Shanghai and Kunming by China Eastern Airlines on 03/01/2016 from San Francisco (USA) by Indian Passport. There would be stopover of 4 hours at SH Airport and stopover of 23 hours at KM Airport. will any transit document be required for such stopover?Will any accommodation be available at KM Airport for stopover of 23 hours or any facility is available to stay at the airport for such long hours  ?Tuhin Kanti Saha

Tuhin, it's possible that you don't need the transit permit. The 24 hours start from 00:00 of the day after your arrival, you can check whether you are eligible. You can stay in a hotel near the airport or stay at the lounge of the airport during the waiting period.
