can I use a hand held walkie talkie in China?

Traveling with 8 people and we want a cheap way to be able to talk when we are not together. Thinking about buying radios in the US and bringing them with me.

Dillenschneider, radio devices are not allowed to be brought unless you get the approval in advance. I personally do not suggest you take walkie talkie to avoid any trouble at the customs. If you really want to try your luck, each of you should take one. Do not ask one person to take all of them. If there is a battery, please tak it out and put in your carrry-on luggage. However, walkie talkie should be put in your check-in luggage.
