About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 HR Visa or Direct Transit?

I will travel from USA (San Francisco) to Bangkok Thailand. My airline will be China Southern Airlines.
The flight will first stopover in Wuhan then stopover in Guangdong for 14 hours. I would like to leave the airport for about 9-10 hours. Which free transit must I apply for? Do I apply for it at the airport or here in San Francisco USA?

Thank you.

Marcel, as you are not eligible for the 72-hour free transit policy, you can only apply for the 24-hour direct transit. The process is conducted at the airport.
