About:6 Most Common Tricks of Fraud Tour Operators in China

We have been asked to pay the whole tour amount of our 8-day trip, on DAY 1 itself.

We have been asked by the local tour operator (who is providing us a 8-day private tour of Beijing, Xian, Guilin and Shanghai) to pay whole of the tour amount on the day 1 itself to the tour guide. Can we pay? Is it advisable to pay to entire amount at once or should we be making partial payments?

Vijay, I don't think it's a goode idea to pay your money to the tour guide. It's the travel agency you should pay your money to. If the agency asks you to do this, then you should ask the agency to give you a receipt or something, in which it states it's them who ask the tour guide to collect your money on their behalf.

In my experience, almost all tourists are required to pay all at once before they start their actual trips. If you are worried, you might discuss with the agency whether you can pay a certain amount of money before the trip and pay the rest after you finish your trip. Honestly, I didn't see any agency do this before.

Lastly, you'd better find a reliable agency to do the tour. Try to learn much more about the agency before you decide to join their tours.
