About:Visa Policy of China

Do I need a new Visa for my new passport?

I am a Dutch citizen with an Australian Residential Permit. My 6-month, double-entry permit for China is valid to 22 November 2015 and was issued to my passport which was valid to March 2016. Because I am travelling within 6 months of my passport expiring I have replaced my passport with a new passport. Can I travel to Shanghai with my old passport (and new passport also), using the entry permit in my old passport for entry to PRC?

Jurgen, some embassies say you can enter with the old entry permit and two passports, some say you have to get a new entry permit with the new passport. So I advise you to check this with the Shanghai Airport Immigration Inspection Office directly. Tel: 086-021-31366100

Thank you for your very helpful response. I telephoned the number you provided and was happy to receive a recorded message advising that at Shanghai Airport I can use my valid visa in my old passport if I take both my old passport and my new passport. Thank you again.
